Why should you order a wedding album?
Are you planning a wedding for this year or next? Maybe you have many of your big decisions already made - you’ve picked your venue, ordered invitations, tasted cake samples and selected your photographer. But how much thought have you given to what you’ll do with your images after your big day has passed? In this post, I want to give you my number one post-wedding tip: preserve the beauty of your day in an heirloom album that will be treasured for years to come.
Let’s dig into 3 reasons why I highly recommend albums to all of my brides.
Technology isn’t reliable and is always changing
Reason number one that you should order an heirloom album is that technology isn’t the most trustworthy. It also happens to be ever-changing. Think about this - 10 years ago, when someone got married, they were most likely given a DVD of their images. Today, most computers don’t even have DVD drives, which means they would need to use an external adapter to even be able to view their wedding images.
Technology is also not very reliable. Image files can be lost, corrupted or accidentally deleted. If all you have of your wedding day is a folder of digital images, you’re risking losing all of your beautiful imagery from your big day. Digital images also can’t be shared with family members who can’t access the internet or don’t own digital devices. Maybe you have a grandparent or great-parent who isn’t the most tech-savvy. It can be hard to share photos with these relatives because they don’t have readily available access to electronic devices.
Albums become part of your legacy
The second reason that I highly recommend ordering an album is because they become part of your legacy. Albums become family heirlooms that are passed down to future generations. How cool would it be if you had access to a beautiful album from your grandparent’s wedding day? Or even generations before that? I’m sure those would be treasured keepsakes that you would be so thankful for. Future generations will feel the same way about having a documented visual representation of your wedding day.
Professional albums also make great additions to your coffee table, as they are beautiful and very high quality. They can become great conversation starters as loved ones visit your home and flip through their pages. You can even order mini albums to take on the go and share with friends at work or church.
Professional albums will last a lifetime (and beyond)
You may be wondering if you can attain the same professional albums by ordering them yourself through an online print site. The answer, sadly, is no. I’ve had clients in the past contact me and let me know that they tried to order prints or albums from their day, only to find that the photos looked much different than the digital images in their gallery. This is because readily available printers are not professional print labs and usually provide a lower quality product. Like I mentioned before, this album is one that you will pass down to generations after you. You want to make sure that it is the highest quality and will hold up to being well-loved by kids and grandkids.
Another perk of going through your photographer to order your wedding album is that they will assist you with the design process. Knowing which images to pair together on which pages can be overwhelming and may not come naturally to you if you’ve never tried to design anything in the past. At OKOTA, we have designed countless albums for our clients and we will ensure that your album is beautiful and correctly reflects the feel of your wedding day.
